Ignorance Against People With Disabilities
It pains my heart everytime I see some ignorant person disbelieving that someone is truly in pain all because they cannot see the outward physical evidences of it. A person with spinal problems problems does not need to paralyzed, on a wheel chair or on crutches for instance and a legally blind person does not need to walk with a stick before their blindness should be validated.
Also, those who make wrong assumptions about others only add to the frustrations of those already impaired. e.g. A person who is speech impaired is not automatically deaf and does not appreciate people shouting at them. A person who has chronic sciatica and says they can't sit, does not need a wheelchair, because a chair is still a chair, even if it's in an emergency room. Give them a gurney instead.
It is also frustrating when people assume your chronic pain is psychological all because they can't see the physical evidences of it. People's ignorance including that of some physicians, insurance companies and even insensitive 'supposedly trained' social workers can rob others of the ability to live their lives to the best of their abilities, when they are denied the resources and treatments available to give them relief and sometimes the cure they might get.
Ignorance against those with disabilities has many a times has prolonged the ability and reality of getting proper treatment for many with disabilities and this eventually takes a psychological toll on those subject to it.
The greed of insurance companies to the detriment of people needing medical treatment, is another major ignorance, because they fail to realize that by depriving a disabled person of immediate necessary treatment, they produce a longterm disabled person, who may then become unproductive in society and ultimately becomes a burden to society instead of a contributing member of society.
