Should You Believe?

To those who don't it's worth reading, to those who are not sure it might be enlightening and for those who already do, do you know why you say you believe?

Quote: Newberg himself addresses skeptics: "Though they may argue that God lives only in the mind of the faithful, the opposite conclusion is equally valid. If there is a God, it makes perfect sense that He would create a way for us to communicate with Him." (Excerpt from Neurotheology) - Janet Chismar, Religion Today.

Those who have truly experienced the aliveness and awesomeness of God through the Holy Spirit, and the power He's bestowed on us through the Name and Blood of Jesus, can attest to the fact that there truly is a God. The fact the He is not seen is not relevant, because He is a Spirit and His spirit dwells in each and everyone of us. He speaks to us through his Holy Spirit, hence the compilations of His word as spoken through His prophets. Regardless of one's religion or faith, or lack of them, one thing we can all agree on is that we do not exist in this world by our own power.

Whether our existence is traced back to evolution or to Adam and Eve, the bottom line is this all came to being by a power greater than ours. The fact that the world's most popular and read book is the Bible, that the world's time and days are measured in reference to Christ's birth B.C. and A.D. and many other confirmations are no coincidences. If prophecies that were made and recorded several years back and fulfilled numerous years later are not sufficient to convince some that the Christ prophesied is the Christ that came, what else can convince Skeptics that there was indeed a Christ who came and was witnessed by many, let alone one that died for our sins as a final atonement, and is indeed Lord and Savior of mankind?

If one believes the Bible is a fable, despite numerous testimonies and confirmations (regardless of the errors in transcription, since man is infallible), one can understand their inability to believe that a single man laid His life for theirs and those of others. But it is not solely about that Man, Christ, but about the will of God. Even that Man, Christ was subject to God's plan, hence His acknowledgment that His purpose in this world and suffering, and His life as an ultimate sacrifice was so that God's word may be fulfilled.

Christ stated that even if we did not believe in Him we should believe in God. Even He feared and acknowledged the awesomeness of God. He knew and acknowledged that God had the power to take away the cup (the crucifixion and suffering from Him). While God himself stated that those who believe in Christ shall have everlasting life. Those who do not believe have everlasting consequences. When the Bible says believe that you may not perish, it is affirming the word of God that Men perish for lack of knowledge.

If you do not know, how can you believe? If you know and do not understand, God has directed that we ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction, and He said to pray for wisdom and it shall be bestowed on us. If you know, and yet do not believe, but then say you believe in God, how then can you say you truly believe Him without believing in His only begotten Son. (A testimony of His Word.) Moreso, the bible states that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.

How can you believe in someone and believe He reigns Supreme without believing His word? What have you got to lose by not believing, especially if the reward for believing is eternal life? The fact that a life exists beyond this one you presently experience, may seem incomprehensible, but is it worth the risk? We have all seen the Word of God manifest, even if you choose to call it Karma. "The evil the wicked surely shall return upon their own head," so why can't we believe that there is indeed a life beyond this, that has been promised us if we allow our souls to be saved, rather than let it be subject to eternal damnation? We risk investing in the unknown everyday, be it be through stocks, partners we marry, playing the lotto, etc. Is the promise of eternal life also worth the risk especially if all that is required is that you believe in God's Son through which it is promised?

Just a thought.

God Bless.
