'I Have More To Offer Nigeria' - Anichebe

Everton youngster Victor Anichebe, who was on target for the Nigerian U-23 Olympics team last Wednesday night at the Abuja International Stadium, has stated that scoring for his fatherland has finally put paid to insinuations that he did not want to represent his country after an earlier Nations Cup snub. In an interview with Brilafm.net just after the 3-0 thrashing of the Amagloglo of South Africa by the Nigerian side, Anichebe said that it felt good to have played for the Nigerian team and that he had more to offer to the country in the future at any level.
"Not being at the Nations Cup is in the past," he insisted. "There are plenty more Nations Cups to play and I know I will be there. At least I've made my debut and I've got plenty more games to play. I am happy I scored on my debut and that's very important to me." Anichebe, who dedicated his goal to his parents, said he was prepared to showcase his talents to the world at the Beijing Olympic Games this summer. The young forward's international career was said to be in question, but he has stayed true to his word of playing for his country of birth after his 2006 declaration.
