It's STILL a big deal! especially in the nigerian culture. Except the guy you want to propose to is not nigerian. You'll be surprised, a lot of pple are more conservative and traditional than you see or hear about in the society, media, etc.

And promise you, the guy would use it against you sooner or later, esp when you get into a very fierce argument, and it would make you feel kinda low, but if it was the other way round and you try to use it against him, it wont really have the same effect bcos its expected for the guy to come after you in the first place.
