Worship of Human Beings as Demi-godsWorship of Human Beings as Demi-gods
Sometimes human beings deify fellow accomplished human beings as demi-gods, and ascribed powers and respect to them, but when these fellow human beings are worshipped then we compromise our worship of God and our respect for Him as the only true God.
In Catholicism such people are made Saints and though nothing may be wrong in ascribing Sainthood to people who have done much to deserve such acknowledgment, one has to be careful not to confuse their nature as human beings, with the persona of the Living God, wherein the honoured now becomes an object of worship.
It would be the equivalent of worshipping the recently 'Late Pope John Paul II' simply by virtue of his accomplishments during his lifetime.
