Sins VisitedSins Visited
It's quite common for pastors and congregation alike to quote that the "sins of the father will be visited upon the children." Have you ever thought about what that truly means?
Obviously, it doesn't mean you'll be responsible for your father's sins; after all God stated that each man shall bear his own sins. Now the way you can pay generationally for sins is only if you commit the same sins fathers and forefathers before you committed.
A) These are sins committed against other persons.
For example, your father was a drunk and you're committing the same sin of excess; your father was an adulterer and you're one yourself, or single and cheating on your significant others, (already on your way to being an adulterer); he abused his wife and you began with your girlfriends and most likely will also abuse your spouse; he stole and you're doing the same; he lied, deceived & cheated others and you're just as good if not more expert than he was, at committing the same sins.
B) Then there are sins committed upon the children/descendants of others. Innocent victims probably cursed before, after conception or as children. Or children who have been oppressed unjustly.
God fights for these as His sheep. Sins committed against these are usually reciprocated on the offsprings of the offender and that is when forgiveness needs to be sought and generational curses need to be broken.
You didn't commit any sin, but maybe your father deprived another family of their joy, parents or blessings, by oppression, acts of envy, destruction or even murder. You didn't do anything, but the souls of those affected cry out to God for vengeance and there's a law of reciprocity.
Some parents even curse their own children and/or grandchildren (born or unborn), for sins committed by their spouses, then wonder who's responsible when the curses begin to manifest in their lives.
No matter what you presently are, a child, father/mother or grandfather/mother, you have a chance to make a change right now.
Think twice before you act unjustly, curse or hurt someone else, you don't know what repercussions you're heaping up for yourself in old age, or for your descendants for generations to come.
May God touch your heart today.
God bless.
