Religious Persecution

Religious Persecution

Although the world is getting more global and one would love to believe that increased interaction would include benefits such as "Freedom of Religion," the reality is that this is not always the case.

In this day and age people are still being persecuted for their religions and religious beliefs, and Christians are not exempt. (Cults are not included in this assertion as they are usually dangerous and only mask themselves as valid religions to suck people in and ultimately destroy their lives.)

While some individuals and religions are subtle in their presence, beliefs and practices, some are extremists in their beliefs and practices, and can be aggressive in their stance.

Globalization though has its benefit in that acts that may have been considered isolated and/or remote before are now coming to the forefront. This makes it easier to address persecution and would hopefully reduce the incidences as the world collectively condemns such acts.

Strangely, there is persecution even within religions, such as Christians persecuting other Christians, Moslems persecuting other Moslems, but usually it's people of different religions that choose to persecute those they consider as adverse to their beliefs and practices.

Unfortunately, sometimes some people react aggressively and extreme in their intolerance of other religions and this can lead to the loss of lives. At such times, intervention is necessary to establish order and prevent loss of lives and growing tensions that can become explosive.

One can only pray and hope as one enlightens others that we develop and practice more tolerance for our fellow beings.
