The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three Communication Companies to sell Nigeria's image abroad.
The programme is tagged "Public Private Partnership Promotion Programme (P5) aimed at advance the investment fortune of the country and support the on-going promotional effort of the Federal Government in laundering the image of the country.
The Companies are led by Prima Garnet Communication Company. According to the statement from the Chief Press Secretary of the Council Mr Joel Attah said the Project is meant to create value chain that would stimulate development through efforts of the NIPC involving the private sector by employing a sustained campaign with the theme of Nigeria as a preferred investment destination for investment.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Engr. Mustafa Bello while signing the MoU, noted that NIPC is concerned with the image of the country, as that is the only way that prospective investors will see Nigeria as the preferred investment destination in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He stated that the Commission is not duplicating the activities of the Federal Ministry of Information on the "Heart of Africa Project", but to add value to the image laundering project of the country and attract more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the Nigerian economy.
In his response the Managing Director of Prima Garnet Communication, Mr. Lolu Akinwunmi stated that the Companies are very proud to partner with the Commission on P5 project. He stated that there is the need to present Nigeria in a positive light to the international communities, especially the investment public.
