Books remain relevant for learning despite the multiple options provided by the Internet and other sources, the Vice-President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has said
The Vice President, who made the remarks at the launching of three books written by the Director of Protocols in the State House, Mr. Lawrence Obisakin, said books would continue to play a crucial role in learning for students and many who have interest in reading because of its accessibility and literary value.
Jonathan, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Dr. Aboki Zhawa, advised Nigerians to cultivate the habit of extensive reading. He commended the author for writing the books despite his tight schedule as the Director of Protocols, adding that writing demands time, money and intellect.
Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello said the author wrote most of the books while in transit with former President Olusegun Obasanjo. "I saw him many times writing on his laptop in the plane, and I am happy that he is launching some of the books", she said.
Obisakin, a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, said the books are his contribution to the key areas that had shaped his life; Christianity and diplomacy.
He donated 100 copies of the books to the Osun State government. One of the books, "Protocol for Life: Guidelines on Diplomatic, Official and Social Manners", captured the author's 25 years' experience as a diplomat and Protocol Officer. The other books, were "God the Holy Spirit: The Mystery of Christianity" and "On the Wings of Time".
