Hiding in God’s ShadowHiding in God’s Shadow
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91v1).
This is an interesting scripture. When you take a look at this verse, you are struck with the reality of being called ‘the Most High’. He is named because He is higher than the highest [Ecclesiastes 5:8]. He is none other than Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:9 says, “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.” Besides, you will notice that the Most High has a secret place where He hides His own in the time of trouble according to our reading. That secret place contrary to what many believe is not a physical building but a name – Jesus Christ.
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” (Proverb 18:10). The reason His name is that secret place of safety is because Philippians 2:10 says whenever trouble looms, all you need to do is call that name and every knee must bow. We also see that in Psalm 91:1, there is someone called “the Almighty.’ He is so named because He is stronger that everything and everyone and can do the impossible. He is the custodian of all power [Matthew 28:18].
Another look at this verse reveals that the Almighty has a shadow where His precious ones can take refuge. Sinners cannot hide there. It is meant for believers only. The Lord can also keep believers as the apple of His eye [Psalm 17:8]. The apple of the eye of any man is the most delicate and precious spot which he will do anything to protect. Under the shadow, you can hide and enjoy absolute abundance, safety and security (Psalm 23:5). You can be sure that when you are hid in the secret place of the Most High, no enemy or evil can find you. In 1 Kings 17:2-7, God hid His prophet by the brook Cherith. Yet they searched everywhere but could not find him. And it never occurred to them to check the brook Cherith. The Lord will hide you from every evil in Jesus name. Every agent of destruction looking for you will not see you in Jesus name.
"For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off." .........Proverbs 23v18
