The results of the 2007 Nigeria e-Banking survey released recently show Guaranty Trust Bank has emerged as the bank with the most satisfied e-banking customers. The survey was carried out by Intermac Consulting to fill the information gap created by the lack of accurate and reliable data and information on the electronic banking market. This information gap has been cited as one of the major hindrances in the development of the e-payment sub-sector.
According to Mr. Dotun Sulaiman, the chairman of Interswitch Limited, the electronic switching technology provider in Nigeria, "a lot more attention needs to be paid to customers and users of the various e-payment channels in order to discover new areas of need." He also added that identifying and satisfying these needs will accelerate the growth of e-payment in Nigeria.
The results of the survey serve as a guide to the level of future investment in e-banking and e-payment solutions.
Guaranty Trust Bank, since its inception, has been a front runner in churning out customised and specialised e-banking products and services. These include GTConnect, a fully interactive, self-service contact centre which allows customers perform virtually all banking transactions through the telephone, anytime and anywhere in the world and the GTBank MasterCard which allows online payments in partnership with the MasterCard International. Others include CashPlus Debit Card used with the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) to make cash withdrawals and purchases on point-of-sale terminals and the GTBank Drive-thru ATM for those who are constantly on the go and want to withdraw cash without leaving their cars.
The bank also offers its robust Internet Banking Portal which enables customers carry out most banking hall transactions such as own account and 3rd party transfers, inter-bank account transfers, cash/draft in transit and bills payments.
Intermac Consulting is an e-business focused consumer research initiative designed to provide market data and analyses of customers' feedback on cards, ATMs, POS terminals, Internet Banking and Telephone Banking products and services.
