Fowler claims the Bible says homosexuality is a sin.
Bradley LaShawn Fowler, 39, of Canton, Michigan is seeking $60 million from Zondervan Publishers and another $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing in lawsuits flied in U.S. District Court of the Easton District of Michigan, reports the Grand Rapids Press.
Fowler states that he's suing the two major Christian publishers for violating his constitutional rights and causing emotional pain, because the Bible versions they publish refer to homosexuality as a sin.
Fowler alleges the companies' bibles' references to homosexuality as a sin has made him an outcast from his family and contributed to physical discomfort and periods of "demoralization, chaos and bewilderment."
He filed suit against Tennessee publisher Thomas Nelson in June. Meanwhile, Zondervan said that even if Fowler's claim is credible, he is suing the wrong party. A company spokesman told WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids that Zondervan doesn't translate the Bible or own the copyright for any of the translations.
The report also states that U.S. District Judge Julian Abele Cook Jr. refused Monday to appoint an attorney to represent Fowler in the Thomas Nelson case, saying the court "has some very genuine concerns about the nature and efficacy of these claims." So Fowler has been representing himself in both lawsuits.
Fowler alleges both Zondervan and Thomas Nelson, with its King James Bibles, manipulated scripture without informing the public by using the term "homosexuals" in a New Testament passage, 1 Corinthians 6:9.
He told WOOD-TV he wants to be compensated for the past 20 years of
emotional duress and mental instability.

Re: Gay Man Sues Bible Publishers for Emotional Distress
Some people are so self-absorbed with psychological issues that have long been unattended to that they believe the world revolves around them. If not, why would someone who has no qualms being a homosexual take offence in his act being considered a sin?
The publishers of the bible did not write the contents of the bible, they simply published them. There are homosexuals who consider themselves Christians and don't take offence to their sexual practices being considered a sin.
Should people who consider themselves Christians but partake in adultery and fornication also sue the publishers of the bible? How about every one of us who has ever stolen, even if it were just a pencil, candy, juice from your parent's fridge, extra break time at work, etc.?
What about those who covet their neighbour's property, wife, etc; or those who have killed other human beings, foetuses, or in their line of work, or to protect themselves or others; or those who have failed to honour their parents and have instead, disrespected them, cussed or cursed them, stolen from them, neglected or abandoned them.
Need we add idol worshippers and all those who worship other gods or goddesses, be it water, the sun, thunder, some graven image, etc?
The point is if someone is slothful and greedy and would rather seek to enrich themself with frivolous lawsuits instead of earning their living, they shouldn't use the bible as an excuse.
If this chap indeed believes in freedom of choice and expression, then he should realize and comprehend that the writers and publishers of the bible are simply expressing their right also.
He is free to practice his homosexuality while also exercising his freedom to NOT read or even believe the bible. If he has issues with his parents condemnation of his homosexuality and the longterm effects of not being able to deal with that shame, or if he feels ashamed expressing his homosexuality in an age where everyone is out of the closet and being out of the closet is politically correct, he should simply seek psychiatric help or sue his parents.
There are a lot of things a lot of human beings don't feel comfortable with, but we don't just go around suing for everything we feels convicts us.
I'm surprised the judge hasn't or didn't throw out this frivolous lawsuit, or aren't there more pressing issues to be addressed rather than clogging the courts with cases that have no merit?
If he really wants to sue, then he should sue Moses for writing the 10 commandments on stone tablets to begin with, or better yet the living God himself for giving Moses the instruction to write them. Unfortunately, I believe the statute of limitation is long past, or he can always wait until he gets to heaven or hell and then send either a cloud or smoke message.
Actually, he could also sue God for creating him and giving him the right of free choice to choose to be a homosexual who now has difficulties accepting that life happens, but since the statute of limitations of that has probably expired also, it'll be easier to sue his parents for conceiving him and depending on whether he considers himself 'born' that way, or he 'grew' into homosexuality, he can tailor his lawsuit to blame them rather than society or the publishers of the bible for his problems and difficulties in accepting that life sometimes suck and the world doesn't revolve around him.
