Solomon Lar - The Godfather of Middle Belt

Since his exit as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Chief Solomon Lar has remained the rallying point in the Middle Belt. Because of his political sagacity, having been former governor of Plateau State, Lar has over time, demonstrated keen interest and concern for the plight of the people of Middle Belt, especially since the return to civil rule.

Today, he remains a force in that region of the country. Lar played a key role in getting Obasanjo to lift the state of emergency imposed on Plateau State last year in the wake of the ethno-religious crisis that enveloped the state. Although he was not known to be in the same camp with the governor, Joshua Dariye, he demonstrated a rare sense of politics without bitterness by supporting the return of the embattled governor to office. In the Middle Belt, the voice of Lar is not an ordinary voice.
