Nigeria to Organize International Food Fair 1-2 March 2009
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and some private sector operators have announced plans to organise the country's first international food fair 1-2 March 2009 to project the country's ''culinary culture''. Organisers told newsmen here Tuesday that the fair, to be held in the nation's capital, Abuja, would bring together international airlines and a number of world class restaurants to create a platform to showcase the country's rich food culture.
FTCA's Secretary for Social Development, Mr. Olusegun Awolowo, said the essence of the fair "is to revive some of the country's lost meals and position the Nigerian cuisine in the international market". Fair initiator Shimite Katung said it was aimed at awakening Nigeria and Nigerians to the massive potentials and opportunities that abound in culinary tourism.
