Same Sex Marriages?????
Now Massachusetts is leading the quest for same sex marriages, considering Canada has already approved it, what will the impact be on other nations and specifically Nigeria.
Historically, African nations (Nigeria included) are known to emulate behaviours and lifestyles peculiar to Caucasian nations and with the rise in homosexuality in Nigeria, the increasing adaptations and tolerance of lifestyles considered strange and immoral in the Nigerian culture, one can only wonder how decisions such as those being made in the west will increasing affect our culture, populace and nation.
Strangely enough an homosexual was ordained Priest in an orthodox church last year, homosexual marriages are being approved and weirder things are increasingly being considered politically correct, much to the moral decay of society as a whole, but like increases in pornography, sexual permissiveness in the media, promiscuity, sexual encounters at tender ages, etc., these are not strange occurrences in the West; but the upsurges will definitely affect other nations and most specifically nations who naively embrace lifestyles and behaviours without sufficient examination of the repercussions on their own populace.
How will these impact the Nigerian culture and populace?
How will it affect the fight against Aids which is rapidly increasing in Nigeria?
How will our children escape the confusion of such decisions, considering some predators are already known for scouting African nations for young boys to sodomize?
There are more questions that will arise, "What will Nigeria as a nation pay for embracing lifestyles that contradicts our very beliefs and morality?"
Some countries in the Arab nations and Asia have already made decisions to censor certain media material in order to decrease the decay of the societies and the immoralities streaming in from America especially. Will Nigeria adopt similar policies at some point or will our children and populace at large continue to be succumbed to these morally decaying influences and practices?

Cxsm,
Nigeria isnt thinking of such policies to censor whatever media material that can affect Nigeria negatively (they could, not first on their priority list). The people in power are too busy trying to make things work well for them alone. They also try in several ways to enrich themselves and their immediate families. The people who will probably be naively affected are the poor/ middle classed who have no choice, but to succumb to such, so as to get their daily bread. Look at the spread of prostitution and the high rate of people leaving this country for jobs ( that they dont know are not there).
If Nigeria was as good as it used to be, tell me, who will want to leave it? The only time people left, was for study abroad, or job related reasons, but not to go there, cos Naija is a jungle now.
Talk about Aids, am sure the people in authority don't care, they pray that it will continue to linger on, so that they can get grants for themselves in the bid to erradicate it. How aware are people about Aids? Most people dont even know what to do when they test positive.. most people even think they will die instantly when they test positive. Most people think that life's over for them, but these are the things, the media and people in authority should let their citizens know.
The only thing is that parents should help train their children in the right way. These days parents are out there trying to make a living, forgeting the duties they owe their children. Money isnt everything.. time well spent will go a long way in the mind of a child. We dont have to be very rich to make our children great people in the future.
The future is bleak... according to Seal "the future is my friend, it hurts but it treats me well" .. "take hold and be its master" ........ How do we do that? By doing the good things and seperating black from white and sticking the our old values.
As Africans we still have our values, passed on from generation to generation.. am sure we havent forgotten our roots. Though whoever will indulge in same sex marriage here, will be exiled... literarily.
And those who sodomize or who practise homosexualism.. do it under lock and key... so lets fight against such influx of allien cultures... we are in it together.
Cheers and thanks for your concern.

The only thing that is on the rise is openness; our society is no different from any other with regard to much else; we can stick our heads in the sand and decry moral failure but it's been around, just hidden "out back"; ha, ha, funny one!
