Motherland Beckons On Rain Dance
This Day
14 July 2007
Certainly, this is a season of celebrations and international networking for Motherland Beckons Initiative whose secretariat is at the sprawling 65-acre land popularly known as La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State. Recently, Motherland Beckons, which is a clarion call project for Africans in Diaspora to navigate their way back to Africa, their region, featured the historical Marcus Garvey Beach Carnival.
The event presented arts enthusiasts and other fun lovers, the carnival train dance performances of the notable Lafiaji Fanti Carnival Group, with their various displays of colours and beauty.
On hand were also members of Atunda Entertainment whose native African song renditions made a perfect alliance with their dance steps, African choreography and drum beats that sent many attendants of the event, dancing gracefully.
The Rain Dance Party, we understand is an event scheduled for today being part of an annual Motherland Beckons Programme, with its characteristic extended invitation within and outside the country. The Dance Party, we are told, is a preliminary event that is planned as a prelude, to the forthcoming Marcus Garvey Grand Reggae Carnival, that will take place at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort on August 18 and 19.
The event is planned to feature international Reggae exponents such as Gregory Isaac, Rita Marley, The Mighty Diamonds and major rave of the moment African Reggae stars.
