Patricia Nnaji yesterday capped Nigeria s outing in the 200m of the T54 special sports event of the 9th All Africa Games here in Algiers with a new African record of 32.69secs.
Her gold medal was the sixth and final to be won by Nigeria in the sport for people with physical challenges on the last day of competition in that discipline.
Earlier on Saturday, Deborah Obolo, Silver Ezeikpe, Ayuba Abdullahi, Bashiru Yinusa and Solomon Amaraku had shot Nigeria to the elite class of countries that have begun gold medals chase with dignity.
Dr. Simon Ebhojaye who is secretary of the Special Sports Federation commended his athletes for their efforts even though they could not meet the aspired targets of more gold medals.Nigeria ended the event with 6 gold 10 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Organisers of the Algiers Games reduced medals in the event from 76 to 46 in their bid to scuttle Nigeria s strength.
Also yesterday Nigeria's badminton team event whitewashed South Africa in 3-0 to win the gold.
