The Lagos state government has called for tenders for the construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of over fifty road projects in the state.
The move is part of government's plans to improve the development index by pursuing plans, programmes and projects which have direct impacts on the lives of the people.
The governor's special adviser on works and infrastructure, Engr. Ganiyu Johnson, in a statement, said the projects included roads in Ojo local government council, Idimu, Badagry, Oko-Oba, Agege, Ikorodu, Magodo estate, Ayobo, Ajegunle, Egbe Idimu, Ikeja, Ifako Ijaiye and some networks of roads in Local Government Housing Estate, Epe, Gbagada, Okota, Alimosho and Ifako.
The special adviser said interested bidders must demonstrate the ability to undertake the projects with relevant and verifiable projects embarked upon within the last ten years and must be registered with the state's government central works registration board.
He urged all private telecommunication operators (PTOs) who might have any programme on the roads to fast-track the implementation with the consent of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance Regulatory Agency (LASMIRA).
He warned that the state government would not allow any form of road damage by the telecommunication companies after construction work is complete.
