Glo BroadAccess to Rollout 60,000 Fixed Lines

• Targets 300,000 lines In 18 months
Glo BroadAccess, a subsidiary of Glomobile will soon roll out about 60,000 lines of its fixed wireless services throughout the country.
Speaking during a chat with newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday, Mr. Martins Olowonihi, the acting Chief Operating Officer (COO), BroadAccess who disclosed that the 60,000 lines will be made available in phases, stressed that company plans to revolutionise the country’s underdeveloped fixed telephony by ensuring that no fewer than 300,000 lines are made readily available in the next 18 months. According to him, Glo will be delivering to Nigerians, quality broad access services powered by its extensive fibre optic back bone network all over the country.
Olowonihi, who was accompanied at the chat with newsmen by Mr. Ashok Nehra, CTO, BroadAccess as well as Mr. Col Satish, CTO Implementation stated that the company has deployed the enabling infrastructure in all the six geopolitical zones in the country to enable it offer an unparalleled quality of service in the industry.
He said the eventual launch of the services would enable a competitive price regime in the industry in the same way as its parent company, Globacom had employed price deregulation to revolutionise the GSM sector of the economy. Several corporate organizations including banks and oil companies are presently on the network.
The Fixed (BroadAccess) brings innovative, cost-effective solutions to cater for customers’ needs. Unlike the CDMA, the network thrives upon wired optic-fibre platform giving it unlimited bandwidth to avoid network congestion and enhance reliability, voice and data clarity, video and conferencing capability, delivered at the best quality.
BroadAccess will among other things, provide subscribers with a different bouquet of products including video on demand, high quality voice calls, competitive pricing, high speed internet connectivity and voice/data transmission using the Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL),) a new Modem technology that enables an ordinary telephone line to reach speeds up to 1024kbps.
