Nigeria Today
10th April '08
EarthSearch Communications International, a supplier and developer of wireless and GPS-based tracking and navigation solutions, has landed two contracts from the African nation of Nigeria. Both contracts are valued at more than $110M. Awarded by DigiQuest of Nigeria, the first contract was developed as an exclusive, non-compete, five-year contract. This deal includes the distribution of navigation solutions marketed as NavPlayer and RoadNut. DigiQuest will also market and sell tracking solutions.
EarthSearch Communications received the second contract from LocateIT for over $25M with exclusive rights to market and sell EarthSearch tracking solutions marketed as AutoSearchGPS and AutoSearchRFID. Under the agreement, LocateIT will further purchase navigational devices for their market.
Under the exclusive licensee agreement, EarthSearch Communications will be responsible for the transfer of technology, training, marketing support, as well as technical support. Chief Executive Officer and President of EarthSearch, Kayode Aladesuyi said that their company recognizes the enormous potential of GPS-based tracking and navigation technologies in emerging markets.
Both licensees complement their existing strategies in the use of GPS-based and wireless technologies in improving the operational efficiencies and security of businesses as well as meeting the safety and entertainment requirements of the end-users. EarthSearch Communications International is a US-based company specializing in GPS-based and wireless solutions.
The company made headlines last month when it announced the launch of their existing fleet tracking solution was integrated with RFID technology to provide users with more detailed information about their assets.
