Celtel to Deploy of Fixed Payphones in Urban & Rural Areas

Celtel Nigeria has announced the introduction of special Payphone or Fixed cellular Phones into the market, raising further the prospect of more Nigerians having access to communication services. Celtel said the service will considerably push up the government's Universal Access Initiative, which is aimed at increasing access to telecommunications services by many Nigerians irrespective of where they live and work.
"At Celtel, we are concerned about strengthening family ties and businesses and ultimately, assist in building a strong local economy both at the urban and rural levels." The new service will be available in both urban and rural areas. "The deployment of Celtel Fixed Payphones which are fixed Phone terminals is intended to help people who may be finding it difficult to recharge their phones at certain periods because of financial constraint or other problems, to communicate with stay in touch with family members, business associates and friends."
